Course Description

This class is for those who love music, and especially singing. We will spend much of our time singing MUSICALS, a different one every semester. It is designed to have fun. But we will also look at the meaning of each story being told, and how it came to life as well as the people involved in this creation. Term by term we will select various types of musicals. The course is designed to be an opportunity for anybody to learn all songs of musicals and to sing openly and freely. No experience or special talent is necessary, just a desire to do it.

Learning Objectives

After taking this course you will have:
1. learned in depth a great musical.
2. had a thorough voice workout.
3. a greater appreciation of the importance of musicals.

April Perkinson

Instructor Biography

April Perkinson has been involved in the music world all her life.
She is currently a vocal coach, teaching her original class, Vocal Rejuvenation Techniques. She teaches Japanese and international singers performing in well-known musical companies and smaller community theaters. As a two-time Berklee College of Music graduate, she realized that guiding others on how to explore and perform was her passion. April was an adjunct professor until recently at Temple University, Japan, where she taught composing and sound engineering. She is now excited to be coaching and producing professional singers full-time and teaching in the Continued Ed program guiding students to dive into the joy of musicals.
