Course Description

This course takes intermediate level of English learners through the whole world of business from product development to pricing strategy, from brand management to credit, from advertising expenditure to management styles. The articles in each unit, though focusing on a particular area of business, are directed towards the general business reader. Business concepts of the sort you find in newspaper and magazine articles are studied and discussed in terms of information load and word partnerships critical to understanding the language of international business.

Learning Objectives

The course is designed to expose intermediate level of English learners to some of the functions of modern business. It shows the students how these functions exist in a changing society and the type of decisions that must be made within that environment. The importance of business in our modern society is also stressed throughout the course. Business Topics can provide a background knowledge of business by exposing the students to a multitude of career fields. Topics such as business leadership, strategy, negotiating and markets are discussed in an introductory manner.

Antonella Saulle

Instructor Biography

Prior to financial futures trading, Antonella worked at various investment banks in their Global Markets divisions, originating, marketing, and structuring various derivatives transactions in multiple assets. She worked for Societe Generale, BNP Paribas, HSBC and Mizuho in New York, Paris and London and her expertise in risk management and derivatives led her to cover both corporate and institutional clients. She holds a BA from Fordham University in New York and a degree in Law from the College of Law and BPP Law in London. She has also attended various management courses at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her two decades of experience in the financial markets includes dealing with all asset classes (FX, Equity, Fixed ncome, Credit, Weather Derivatives, and Life Settlements). Antonella started her career at the brokerage division of the Man Group in New York where she was focusing on marketing Fixed Income products to French Institutional clients. At HSBC she ran the Multi-Asset derivatives desk and focused on the European Institutional clientele.
Antonella is now focusing her efforts on establishing herself in Asia and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
